box1box2box3coalboxrightbox4box5box6

Well hammered brass scenery [ in England always referred to as Pussy Oak ) slant top oak coal hod is in EXCELLENT condition.  Wear as indicative of age and frankly that’s one of the things that makes it SUCH a wonderful OLD piece!  It has a beautiful hammered brass design to the FRONT….Top….AND Both Sides!   One of the handles appears to have been reattached at some point.  Overall the hod or bin is in excellent condition for its age, no breaks or rips in the wood or brass.  The wood underneath is in good condition, no rotting.  It has all four ORIGINAL short legs, which is another indication of age as later pieces have casters and wheels.

An estate purchase and Antique.

Approx: 17 ” deep X 17″W X 17 “H Weight 23 lbs

Not a LOT of people still use coal, but this would make a BEAUTIFUL accent piece.  Or USE it to hold kindling (wood and paper) by the fireplace.  Add to a great fireplace setting.

An attractive antique coal hod is most versatile and can be used for storing magazines or other articles either near a fireplace or elsewhere in the home.
