This is an antique all metal hitching post in the carousel horse style that stood at the entrance of an old bar in California. The magnificent horse is chestnut with black main and tail. The English riding saddle, fancy bridle & tack, etc. are dark brown over a checkerboard blanket. The post and base are black. It is beautifully carved & chased and was heavily cast. The horse does not go up and down like a carousel which is why we believe it is a custom hitching post. It weighs Approximately 110 lbs. 45″ H x 34″ L x 10″ W. H to top of back is 23″ while H to top of horse head is 33″.
The bronze & iron horse was bequeathed to our source with an inheritance of antiques and is now in New York. It is barn fresh and has not been cleaned after years of storage as some collectors prefer this condition. It can easily be cleaned and it will shine. It has a small, minor and unobservable patch of corrosion underneath. Some of the patina has been rubbed off the ears over the years to produce a rich bronze tone. It is in excellent condition with no missing parts, breaks or dents. It has the usual wear one would expect of an object of this age which we believe is circa 1900.
It may be picked up locally in Oceanside, Long Island, NY or buyer can arrange for shipping via such as uship dot com.
This is a unique, one of a kind as far as we know, statement piece.
