Lot of 27 antique bottles from c 1880 to 1930.

Lot of 27 antique bottles from c 1880 to 1930.  All recovered from privy digs in Brooklyn and Long Island, New York.  We have seen some of these bottles sold individually from $10 to $40 each on auction and bottle collecting sites including eBay.

1.     Whiskey screw top bottle, embossed “ONE PINT, TRADE MARK W, FEDERAL LAW FORBIDS SALE OR REUSE OF THIS BOTTLE, elaborate embossed gate design, oval concave bottom, brown,  7 7/8” High, 4” wide, c. 1900 – 1910.  Possibly Whitney Glass Works,  Glassboro, N.J.
2.    Proprietary medicine bottle, embossed on recessed panel “ FATHER JOHN’S MEDICINE, LOWELL MASS,” rectangle recessed bottom, brown with iridescence, 7 ¼” high, 4” wide, 1” thick, c. 1880 –  1890.
3.    Beer bottle, embossed “BERKSHIRE BREWING ASS’N, PITTSFIELD REGISTERED, round bottom, green, 9 ¼” high, 2 5/8” diameter, c.  1920.
4.    Beverage  bottle, embossed “ TRADE MARK CLICQUOT CLUB,” round bottom, green, 10” high, 2 1/2″ diameter, chip on bottom, c. 1930.
5.    Soda bottle, embossed “REGISTERED JOHN HEYDT, INDIAN LEAP HOTEL, INDIAN ORCHARD, MASS., THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD,” round bottom embossed “C.” clear, 9 ¼” high, 2 ¼” diameter, c . 1890 – 1900.
6.    Beer bottle, embossed “LEMBECK & BETZ, JERSEY CITY, N.J.,”  round bottom embossed “REGISTERED,” green, 9 ¼” high, 2 ½” diameter,  c. 1890 – 1900.
7.    Beer bottle, blob-top embossed “REGISTERED, BENJ. H. CRATES BOTTLING WORKS, RED BANK, N.J., THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD,” round bottom embossed “10A,” green, 9” high, 2 ¼” diameter, chip on blob top, c. 1915 – 1925.
8.    Beer bottle, embossed “ REGISTERED  BENJ. H. CRATE 1927, RED BANK, N.J., 3 FLUID OUNCES,” round bottom, light green, 8 ¼” high, 2 ¼” diameter, c. 1927.
9.    Beer bottle, embossed “QUANDT BREWING CO., TROY, N.Y., REGISTERED,” round bottom, green, 9 ¾” high, 2 ½” diameter, c. 1910 – 1920.
10.    Soda bottle, blob-top embossed “W.A. FRENCH & CO. RED BANK, N.J.,THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD,” round bottom embossed with diamond, green, 9” high, 2 ¾” diameter, c. 1900 – 1910.
11.    Beer bottle, embossed W.A. FRENCH & CO., RED BANK N.J. surrounding elaborate logo “W” over “A” over “F”, THIS BOTTLE NOT SOLD.” round bottom embossed “F 183,” green, 7 ¾” high, 2 ¼” diameter, c. 1900 – 1910.
12.    Beer bottle, embossed “CAPACITY 8 OZ., BELMAR BOTTLING WORKS, M.Y., BERLMAR, N.J., REGISTERED, THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD,” round bottom, clear, 8 ¼” high, 2 ¼” diameter, c. 1915 – 1925.
13.    Beer bottle, blob-top embossed “ S. LIEBMANN’S SONS BREWING CO. REGISTERED with loco “SLS,” round bottom embossed “1357,” green, 9 1/8” high, 2 ¼” diameter, c. 1900 – 1910.
14.    Beer bottle, blob-top embossed “REGISTERED L. MUELLER 601 E. GIRARD AVE., PHILA., THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD,” round bottom embossed “33J,”, CLEAR, 9” HIGH, 2 ¾” diameter, c. 1900 – 1920.
15.    Liquor bottle, raised bands on sides, embossed  in circle “NATIONAL LIQUER SUPPLY CO., 1698 3RD AVE. N.Y.,” oval bottom embossed “244,” clear with some iridescence,  6 ¼” high, 3” wide on bottom, 3 ¼” on widest part, c. 1900 – 1910.
16.    Milk bottle, embossed “McCUE’S DAIRY INC., BUTTERMILK, CHOCOLATE, ORANEADE, COTTAGE CHEESE, ONE QUART LIQUID,” round bottom, clear, 9 ¼” high, 4” diameter, c. 1920 – 1930.
17.    Milk bottle, embossed “ 4, SHEFFIELD FARMS, DECKER CO., LAWSON, NEW YORK,”  round bottom embossed with cross in circle, clear, 7 ¼” high, 3 1/8” diameter, c. 1910 – 1830.
18.    Proprietary bottle with raised side bands, embossed “WYETH & BRO, PHILADA,” oval bottom, clear, 7 ¼” high, 3” wide, 2 ¼” thick, chip on lip, c. 1880 – 1900.
19.    Apothecary screw top bottle, embossed “ RAWLEIGH’S TRADE MARK, BOTTLE MADE IN U.S.A., beveled rectangle bottom embossed “T” in circle over diamond, “14\8”, “16”, “4,” clear, 8 ½” high, 3” wide, 1 ¾” thick,” c. 1920 – 1930.
20.    Dressing Bottle, embossed “J.F. HOWARD, HAVERHILL, MASS., fluted base, round bottom embossed “C” in square, clear, 7 ¼” high, 2” diameter bottom, 2 ¼” diameter in middle, c. 1920 – 1930.
21.    Cream bottle, embossed “5 ¢” DEPOSIT”, “PROPERTY OF BORDEN’S FARM PRODUCTS CO., INC., round bottom embossed “BORDEN’S STORE”, “C” in circle, fluted sides with raised rim, clear, 4 ½” high, 3” diameter, c 1910 – 1930.
22.    Unknown use, hexagonal bottle, fluted on 3 sides, smooth on other 3 sides, embossed on bottom “6”, bright green, 6 ¼” high, 2 ¼” wide, c. —-, beautiful  old bottle.
23.    Proprietary medicine bottle, embossed “ PAWNEE INDIAN RELIEF,” round bottom, light green, chip on lip, 5 ½” high1 ¼” diameter, c.  1880 – 1900.
24.    Vial, round bottom embossed “CO” in cartouche, clear, 4 ¼” high, 1” diameter bottom, 2” diameter at widest, c. 1900.
25.    Medicine bottle, embossed “ SLOANS N & B LIMIMENT, DR. E.S. SLOAN, BOSTON,” rectangular bottom, clear, chip on lip, 5” high, 2” wide, 1 1/8” thick, c.  1890 – 1905.
26.    Medicine bottle, embossed “ BROMOSELTZER, EMERSON DRUG CO., BALTIMORE,” round bottom, dark blue, chip on lip, 4 1/8” high, 1 ¾” diameter, c. 1890 – 1920.
27.    Proprietary medicine bottle, embossed “McKESSON” on one side,” & ROBBINS on other side,” rectangular bottom, brown, 4” high, 1 ¾” wide, 1” thick, c. 1880 – 1900.

Sold as is, where is.  No refunds, no partial refunds.  Honest and minor wear as you would expect for bottles of this vintage buried in the ground.   They have been cleaned but some feature milky or unremoveable residue.

These will make a great addition to any collection or as a starter collection of antique bottles.  If sold individually, they are worth more than our starting price for the lot.
